Across both sides · Speaking and keynotes

Not inspiration that fades by Monday. A shift in how your people see the work.

Keynotes and conference talks from Gareth Lock on human factors, Just Culture and learning from everyday work. Each one aims for a single change in thinking that shows up in the next briefing, debrief and incident review.

Topics

Talks that stay with people.

Every talk is shaped around your audience and event. These are the themes Gareth speaks on most often, drawing on stories from military aviation, accident investigation and other high-risk work.

Why incident investigations fail, and what to do instead

Why reviews keep finding the person nearest the event, and the questions that lead to the conditions behind it.

Human factors and system safety

How performance emerges from people working inside systems, and why "human error" is a starting point rather than an answer.

Just Culture and psychological safety

What leaders do after something goes wrong, and how it shapes what they hear before the next event.

Learning from emergent outcomes

Learning from success as carefully as from failure, and turning lessons identified into lessons learned.

Non-technical skills in high-risk work

Communication, decision-making and leadership under pressure, and why they degrade before technical skills do.

The speaker

Gareth Lock

Gareth speaks internationally on human factors, Just Culture, psychological safety and learning from both success and failure. His talks draw on 25 years in the Royal Air Force, fatal accident investigations for two national defence forces, and research into how stories shape what organisations learn.

Every talk is built around real stories, because stories carry lessons in a way slides rarely do, and because they are what people remember and retell afterwards.

  • Accident investigatorFatal accident reviews for the UK Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force.
